One way to quickly remove the white here is using Blend Options – you can access them clicking the cog icon on the top right of the Layers panel. Once the Document Setting window opens, navigate to the Color Tab and check Transparent background. Click OK, and you have set the transparent. Technically it hides. If you want to remove it definitely go to Document ▸ Flatten (make sure Transparent Background it ticked)or right-click.
